Election Day

Election is here and already we hear of voter fraud. Also, questions about those in the east coast being able to vote. Fast and Furious is still in the news and especially what happened in Libya to those four Americans, two being ex-Navy Seals.

All I want to do is to encourage Americans to vote no matter whether you vote, Democrat, Republican, or Independent. I have still heard people saying they are not voting because they didn’t like either Obama or Romney. Let me just say this one thing, vote anyway even if you write in your dog’s name.

I know I will get some people mad at me for saying that but voting is one of our most prized freedoms. Lets not let it slip away like some of our other freedoms have done. So please go out and vote on Tuesday. Take these quotes to heart when you do vote. May God bless all.

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. – John Adams (1814)

If we were directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we would soon want for bread. – Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. – Thomas Jefferson

The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases. – Thomas Jefferson

A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody. – Thomas Paine

Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness. – George Washington

To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. .I place economy among the first and most important of republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of the dangers to be feared. – President Thomas Jefferson

Remember our debt soared in the past four years.

Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it. ~Thomas Paine

VOTE DON’T HOLD BACK

Are We a Republic or a Democracy?

This post I want to go into what form of government we really are. I feel this is appropriate considering the 4th of July is coming pretty soon. You ask why not do it when July is here. Well I get tired of hearing people call us a Democracy. This is repeated to brainwash people. You do this to teach children. You repeat it enough times people believe it.

In my book I have charts and things so it would be easy to understand what I am saying. First what is a Democracy? Do you know? According to Webster’s 1828 dictionary it says, “Government by the people: a form of goverment in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of the people collectively, or in which the people exercise the powers of legislation” Well that doesn’t sound like even today with our presidents wanting their way and using excutive orders to pass legislative messures they want. I’ll get into excutive orders later. Athens had this form of government.

Now a republic is defined as,”A commonwealth; a state in which the exercise of the sovereign power is lodged in representatives elected by the people. In modern usage, it differs from a democracy or democratic state; in which the people exercise the powers of sovereignty in person. Yet the democracies of Greece are often called republics.”

However, we are not just a simple republic. We are a Federal Republic. You say what is the difference. We are each a government (states) that formed a union. Remember, “We the people of the United State in Order to form a more perfect Union-”

Representatives are voted on to send to Washington D.C. Our governors go to Washington D.C. I think it is once a year for a conferance. This is why each state has a National Guard. The president does not have athority over the states except to make sure they adhear to the Constitution. The schools are under the state and not the federal government. Also, we do not have to obey any laws that Congress make or now the president if we deam them Unconstitutional.

In the book Political Thought of Plato and Aristotle, chapter III, it said the Latin word republic had two meanings—“the State” State meaning government (Latin, respublica; hence the name by which it generally goes), or “concerning justice”. Plato had a unique thought of a republic being a “philosophy” or man and laws in thought. Looking upon Greece’s struggle between a few ruling and Democracy he found vivid evils and so came the attacks on property and abolishing their form of economics which was based on gold. Of course we know what happened after they did that. We see what is going on with our economics since we left the gold standard. I cover that in my book also.

This is the duties of each office: Congress-are the ones to make the laws; Excutive Branch-They are only to enforce the laws made by Congress. They can give advice like other citizens but not demand or order them. The president is not king like Obama wants to be.He is an elected offical who is suppose to follow the laws of the land as well as enforce the laws.: Supreme Court- they are to only decide if a law is Constitutional or Unconstitutional. Under them they have District & Special Courts along with the Circuit Court of Appeals. They are also not suppose to make laws or policies. Each is suppose to keep the other in check not make buddies and cross the line!

Professor Judith A. Best, was a professor of Political Science at the State University of New York, stated, “We are not, never have been, and were not intended to be a simple democracy, because a simple democracy is a form of tyranny-a majority tyranny.”

Lets talk about these excutive orders that our presidents have been using to make polices which I have said is illegal. It was really meant in time of war however, our presidents have used it for their gain. You notice I said presidents and not just Obama? Nevertheless Obama is the only president that have really abused it. This is how presidents can become dictators and get around the system. I feel this needs to go but good luck on that.

Also, the federal government is suppose to make sure by our Constitution to stay a republic. Now you know why Obama does not like our Constitution. Article IV Section. 4 The United States shall guarantee to every State in the Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. That is not talking about wife being abused by the husband!

John Adams said,

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

My book goes into great detail about our Constitution and the setting up of our government.

What is Civic Duty?

I have often wondered what people think their civic duty is.

In Rome they had civil crowns made of garland of oak boughs that they gave a soldier who saved the life of a citizen in battle.

Some people think that by obeying the laws and helping people out once in a while they have done their civic duty. This is all well and good because we should do these things to help out our communities. However, this is just part of being a good citizen. Civic duty goes beyond these things.

If you go to the dictionary it defines “civic duty” as “connected with the duties and obligations of belonging to a community“.

In the Webster’s 1828 dictionary it says “civic” “pertains to a city or citizen; relating to civil affairs or honors“.

Then it defines “duty” as “that which a person owes to another; that which a person is bound, by any natural, moral or legal obligation, to pay, do or perform“.

Obedience to princes, magistrates and the law is the duty of every citizen and subject; obedience, respect and kindness to parents are duties of children; fidelity to friends is a duty; reverence, obedience and prayer to God are indispensable duties; the government and religious instruction of children are duties of parents which they cannot neglect without guilt.

Abraham Lincoln said, “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

Civic duty extends to our homes, community, government, and others. We need to take responsibility for our own actions and quit pointing the finger at the other guy. This is what children do, and we should be above that as adults. This goes for our politicians. Our civic duty includes being responsible citizens. Part of that responsibility is to be aware of what is going on in our government and vote with our eyes open as much as we possibly can.

Ronald Reagan said, “Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.”

Part of our civic duty is to safeguard our liberty. This business of “it doesn’t matter if I vote or not because the person I don’t want will get in any way” is garbage. I bet if someone did a survey of how many people believed that, it would be enough to change the outcome of an election! Let me remind you that Hitler won by one vote!

Be an informed citizen and do not just take people’s word for it. I challenge you to check what every candidate says as much as possible. Ask yourself whether we are better off today than we were four years ago. Look at the pump, food, and other items.

Do research. Don’t throw away what our forefathers fought and died for.
